Built in 1849, the Burgundy House building has seen over a third of New Orleans’ 300-year history from the southeast corner of streets Burgundy & Touro.
The long history of this Faubourg Marigny building has seen its space used for both residential use and active commerce.
As Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, a wayward tornado swept through the neighborhood, removing the front of the building. The structure fell into disrepair following numerous renovation attempts and sat in neglect for over a decade.
Acquired in 2016 by historic restoration developers Gregg and Michael Morris, this dilapidated building finally began its gradual rebirth.
Today, the Burgundy House building is alive with vibrance once again to provide rest for travelers, play a part in momentous occasions, and bear witness to the story of New Orleans.
